Lara powers to victory with Wilson FG Tour irons

Jose Manuel Lara relied on the Wilson FG Tour irons on his way to victory at the Austrian Open.

The 33-year-old shot a final-round of 64 to finish on 17-under-par, before seeing off Englishman David Lynn in a play-off.

Up until two weeks ago, the Spaniard looked like he might be heading back to Q School, but a fourth-placed finish in the KLM Open ahead of this week’s efforts has seen him retain his Tour card for another year.

“Jose Manuel has had a tough time of it recently, but he’s shown his true character and how much faith he has in his clubs” said Doug Wright, Director of Golf in Europe for Wilson.

The FG Tour irons, which came out on top in our annual TG irons test in the Tour Quality section, are precision forged from a mild carbon steel while the thin topline certainly appeals to the better player.

Lara’s victory also took Titleist past the 100 mark in terms of worldwide professional wins in 2010. He used the Titleist ProV1x to great effect and, alongside wins this week on the Nationwide, Asian and South African tours – took the tally to over 100.

INFORMATION: The FG Tour irons retail at £549 and for more details please visit www.wilson-staff.com
