Nike VR Pro blades updated for 2011

Nike have updated their bladed irons for 2011 in the form of the VR Pro blades.

The irons are designed for the pure ball striker and feature a traditional flatback blade design. However, each iron has been specifically shaped to perfectly position the centre of gravity at a precise point to ensure consistent trajectories throughout the set from the long to the short irons.

The irons, which Nike athlete Charl Schwartzel used to great effect to win the Masters at Augusta this year, also feature Nike’s new X3X groove pattern.

This new pattern was introduced to combat any loss of control following the introduction of new groove regulations by the R&A and USGA last year and features more grooves on the face, spaced closer together than on previous iron faces. The grooves are also deeper for maximum control from a multitude of lies, say Nike.

The irons heads are forged from 1025 carbon steel for the feel that better players are looking for and this also allows the grooves to be die-stamped into the face for even more precision.
