Callaway Razr X game improvement irons unveiled

Callaway have launched the Razr X irons, their latest line of game improvement irons designed to help amateur golfers.

The company say the Razr X irons are designed to deliver on three levels – distance, forgiveness and feel. They believe there is no point designing a club that will deliver on one of two of these levels if you have to sacrifice another so the Razr X has been created to give the distance and forgiveness of a wide-sole iron while retaining the playability and turf interaction advantages of a thin-sole iron.

The key technology in the irons is the new Razr technology, which is the weighted area at the rear of the clubhead. This serves to move the centre of gravity low and away from the face just like a wide-sole iron but because the rear of the head is beveled the sole plays much thinner.

Elsewhere the irons feature Callaway’s VFT (variable face thickness) Power System, which allows Callaway’s engineers to increase ball speeds across more of the face and an undercut cavity which allows the CG to be more precisely positioned.

The Razr X set can also be customised to replace longer irons with hybrids. RRP £599 (steel) and £729 (graphite)
