First-hit video: Nike VR Pro hybrid

They say some like it hot – and it doesn’t come any hotter than Nike’s new VR Pro hybrid.

Nike say they have designed the face of the new hybrid to be 21 per cent hotter than the previous model and that means it delivers faster ball speeds across more of the face.

This is done with the introduction of a compression channel in the sole, which also features in the fairway wood and driver in the VR Pro line-up. This allows the face to flex evenly no matter where the ball is hit so it is more forgiving on off-centre strikes.

The sole has also been designed to be flatter to help nip the ball off tight lies and Nike say this makes the transition from irons easier to manage.

To test the theory out TG’s gear team Jonathan Greathead and David Connor took the club to the range for a first impression. You can see how they got on in the video below.
