Mizuno hits the heights with new JPX Fli-Hi

With the old-style driving iron a thing of the past Mizuno have come up with a new long-iron replacement for off the tee in the form of the JPX Fli-Hi.

It has been designed specifically as what Mizuno call a DLR (direct-long-iron replacement) but unlike traditional driving irons this is effective for use off the fairway as well as the tee thanks to an extremely high launch.

Mizuno say it will perform exactly like an iron, meaning you can attack flags with it, except that is easier to hit, more forgiving and offers a higher launch.

The JPX Fli-Hi features a drop-down crown which helps deliver a lower and deeper centre of gravity to aid the high launch and this feature on the crown also makes it easier for clubfitters to alter the lie angle to custom fit the club for the golfer.

In terms of looks, it has been designed to build as much confidence over the ball as possible and therefore it features a large head and bulbous toe that may put some better players off. However, this all adds to the forgiveness that a mid to higher handicapper is looking for.

The JPX Fli-Hi is available in a steel shaft (£80) and graphite (£115)
