Ross Fisher makes switch to Nike Golf

Englishman Ross Fisher has joined the swelling ranks of Tour professionals at Nike Golf, after he signed a multi-year contract that will see him head-to-toe in apparel, footwear and equipment.

The switch to Nike Golf is the first manufacturer change in his seven years as a professional, and the four-time European Tour winner was delighted to have made the move.

“Just looking at the history of Nike, it’s all about innovative products that are designed specifically for athletes. Nike Golf is the same. At Nike, golfers are athletes,” said the 31-year-old.

“My first priority this year is to get back into the world’s top 50, and with the backing and support of my coaches and team at Nike Golf, I am sure that it’s a realistic goal. I’m really bombing it with the VR Pro Ltd driver and I’m looking forward to putting all the new gear into play,” he added.

As well as the VR Pro woods, the 2010 Ryder Cup star will be using Nike’s impressive VR irons, Method putter and the exciting new 20XI golf ball which launches to consumers next month.

“Changing balls is much harder than changing clubs,” explained Fisher. “With a new driver, that’s basically just one shot you have to understand. But a new ball affects all 14 clubs in your bag, and you have to have confidence in how each of those clubs is going to play.

“It’s not something you can do overnight, but I’m really excited about what this ball is going to do for my game,” he added.

Fisher, whose Tour victories came at the 2007 KLM Open, the 2008 European Open, the 2009 Volvo World Match Play and the 3 Irish Open the following year, will make his Nike Golf debut at the Abu Dhabi Championship which starts on January 26.
