Mixed bag powers Kuchar to Players win at Sawgrass

Matt Kuchar recorded his first victory since 2010 with a win at the Players Championship in Florida.

The American used equipment from several manufacturers, including Bridgestone’s J40 driver, the J40 cavity back irons and the J40 wedges.

The 33-year-old, who finished on 13-under-par – two shots clear of his nearest challengers – also used TaylorMade’s Burner fairway wood as well as Ping’s i15 hybrid.

He trusted Bridgestone’s B-330S golf ball and Rife’s Barbados Belly putter in what was the biggest win of his career.

Scotsman Martin Laird, who was edged out by Kuchar in the 2010 Barclays Championship, finished in a tie for second on 11-under alongside Americans Zach Johnson, Rickie Fowler and former Open winner Ben Curtis.

Luke Donald fired a stunning final round 66 for a sixth-place finish, but it wasn’t enough to help him regain the top spot in the world rankings from Rory McIlroy.
