Video Review: Mizuno JPX-825 And JPX-825 Pro Irons

Mizuno’s MP irons are simply brilliant if you’re a better player. But if you don’t practise as much as you should and want a bit more forgiveness to help your game, then the new JPX-825 Pro and 825 models are well worth considering.

In terms of aesthetics, the more compact Pro model looks neat at address, but still offer a reassuring level of forgiveness for those mis-hit shots. The longer irons (up to 7-iron) feature more weight around the heel and toe for assistance, while the shorter irons benefit from more weight behind the impact zone for added control.

No matter where Mizuno say the weight is positioned, the one thing Tg noted from the irons throughout the bag was the exceptional feel. These irons really did feel soft and this comes from their legendary forging process.

The other half of the JPX Dream Team comes in the form of the more forgiving, slightly-larger 825 irons. But make no mistake, these don’t look like conventional game-improver irons. The equipment market is flooded with chunky irons that deliver great performance (high launch, good yardages) but many don’t cut the mustard when it comes to the aesthetics – the JPX 825 irons, however, do everything.

And if it was all about feel with the Pro version, the story with the larger irons is distance – the Hot Metal face no doubt contributes to this, but the ball really did seem to fly, even when it isn’t flush out of the middle of the club.
