ProQuip European Ryder Cup suits heading to Medinah

More than 400 ProQuip rainsuits, waterproof tops and trousers destined for the European Ryder Cup team are winging their way to Medinah Country Club ahead of the showpiece event in Chicago.

With Captain Jose Maria Olazabal naming Ian Poulter and Nicolas Colsaerts as his two picks last week, ProQuip were then able to put the finishing touches on the outfits that the players will wear when they look to retain the trophy at the end of September against Davis Love III’s American team.

And ProQuip have also kitted out the players’ wives and partners, with each supporter receiving a specially-designed jacket in European team colours.

The design of the suit is a closely guarded secret, but ProQuip have revealed that the slim-fit garments feature an exclusively-developed, lightweight fabric that is super-quiet and soft, enabling the players to tackle even the most ferocious of weather conditions.

Russell Brooks, ProQuip General Manager, said: “There’s a substantial amount of work that goes into supplying weatherwear to Team Europe, but with more than 25 years’ experience supplying Ryder Cup Teams, we are more than up to the challenge.

“The players have to be prepared for every eventuality with the weather, as we saw at Celtic Manor Resort in 2010, which is why we personally tailor each rain suit for the team and use the best performing technical fabrics to keep them dry and comfortable in wind and rain.”

The biennial match runs from September 28-30.
