Titleist Continues Ball Dominance At PGA Professional Championship

The excellence of Titleist equipment was once again underlined at the 2013 Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship, as the brand were the overwhelming favourite ball among the PGA professionals, who followed the example set at last week’s US Open.

As well as being the choice of the champion, the dominance of Titleist across many of the equipment categories at the tournament continues to highlight how golfers across all levels of the game trust Titleist.

The Pro V1 franchise led the way at De Vere Slaley Hall, as 116 of the 155 players in the field (75%), including the champion, chose to tee it up with a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, compared to 16 for the nearest competitor.

The success of Titleist equipment continued throughout the bags of the club professionals as the brand impressively topped the count for five of the major equipment categories. Spearheaded by the forgiveness and control of the 913 metals family, Titleist led the count for drivers, fairways and hybrids at the event with counts of 43%, 33% and 37% respectively.

More competitors also put their trust in the Titleist iron range than any other brand, with 45% of the field choosing the AP1, AP2, CB & MB models.

The Vokey Design wedges again underlined their market leading credentials by registering a 52% count in the category, more than five times the nearest competitor.

As well as being the choice of the majority of the field at the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship, Titleist Brand Ambassador Dan Greenwood trusted a host of Titleist equipment to claim the title by a stunning nine shots. The bag of the Lincolnshire-based professional included the Pro V1x golf ball, a full compliment of Titleist Metals including a 913 D3 driver, AP2 irons, and Vokey Design SM4 wedges.

The Englishman claimed a wire-to-wire victory after having topped the leaderboard from round one and posted a final round 68 to finish on an eight-under par victory total

Matthew Johnson, Titleist Brand Director, commented upon his delight at Titleist’s continued popularity amongst PGA Professionals: “We have a very strong relationship with PGA Professionals and work closely with club professionals across the UK. To have many of them playing and recommending our products is a huge compliment to the excellence of our offerings. This kind of endorsement from our PGA retail partners is just as important as the support we enjoy on the main professional tours.”
