Adidas has revealed the first ever golf shoes designed specifically for each foot – and Sergio Garcia and Jason Day will be wearing them at Augusta National next week.
The new Asym Energy Boost is the first asymmetrical golf shoe that features a unique design for the left and right foot.
Using biomechanics analysis, engineers at adidas Golf found significant differences in the forces placed on each foot during the swing and designed the shoes to perform optimally for both right and left-handed players.
They also features an advanced lace lock system for a more secure and consistent fit as well as a molded EVA tongue to for extra comfort. An external heel counter enhances lateral stability while full-length boost midsole foam returns energy to the foot with every step while also providing added cushioning. For in-swing stability the TPU outsole is fitted with gripmore traction elements in optimal locations.

”There is a reason no other brand has brought a fully asymmetrical shoe to market,” said Masun Denison, Director of Global Product Marketing, Footwear at adidas Golf. “It was a challenging process that involved a lot of additional research and much more design and development. Once we saw the advantage this product could offer and being the performance and innovation leader we are, we felt it was our duty to bring it to golfers of all skill levels.
“The great thing about asymmetrical technology is that it is intuitive, meaning whenever we tell someone why we developed the Asym Energy Boost and explain that our feet work differently during the golf swing, people get it,” added Denison. “It is complex to make a shoe like this, but easy to understand the benefit it provides.”
