Titleist obviously know they’re onto something with the extreme tungsten weighting as they are introducing it across all of their iron models – including the 716 CB and MB.

716 CB

The 716 CB (Cavity Blade) is designed for pure shot making but due to the cavity it incorporates increased forgiveness over Titleist’s Muscleback. When it comes to Titleist’s tour staff about 20% use the CB and for this the latest incarnation players can expect to see an increase in ball speeds (over 714 CB) for on and off centre hits.

Make no mistakes these are really aimed at the player, they deliver tour proven shot control and of course the solid forged feel you’d expect from a Titleist forging.

716 MB

The MBs have been a firm favourite in the bag of Adam Scott for years, but then he’s one of the best ball strikers in world golf. There’s no doubting these are a stunning looking set of irons, they just fill us with envy that we’re not good enough to use them.   

The new 716s are inspired by feedback that comes directly from Titleist’s tour staff. They’re forged from 1025 carbon steel and have a high muscle design for ultimate shot control.

Updates over the previous model include a sharper toe angle, thinner top edge and a pre-worn leading edge to improve turf interaction. If your game demands ultimate shot control and pure muscleback feel then these should be high on your Christmas list.   

716 TMB

Your game may well not warrant a utility iron but surprisingly on Tour Titleist sees about a 50/50 split between them and hybrids depending on the golf course being played.

The new 716 TMB benefits from the same style of extreme toe and heel tungsten weighting as the AP2 Irons and an increase of 6.8% in MOI means extra playability over the previous 712U.

A new thinner and faster face increases ball speed and launch to maximise carry distance. This model also benefits from extra trailing edge chamfer, which improves turf interaction and playability.
