Ping reveal new G Fairway and Hybrid

Ping have put in some serious effort to improve the G driver but the fairways and hybrids certainly haven’t been an after thought as they’ve got some significant updates too.

Lower leading edge

Ping’s research has shown how modern golfers struggle launching shots off the short grass with their fairway woods. So their engineers have lowered the leading edge which effectively raises the impact position on the face by 12%. Making it easier to get the ball airborne, and improving MOI.

Cascading sole

We’ve all heard about compression channels and speed pockets on the soles of modern woods and hybrids, Ping’s take is an internal cascading sole design. It engages more of the structure in the bending process which for you means faster ball speeds.

Carpenter Steel Face

When the club face is enduring the stress and strain of flexing and returning to its original shape you need a steel capable of the jobCarpenter 455 steel is 25% stronger than the      17-4SS used in the rest of the G’s head.

Thin crown with Turbulator Technology

Ping say the G’s fairway crown is 25% thinner than the G30’s which frees up 7g to position and improve MOI. For the first time you’ll also find turbulators on the crown of the hybrid which not only improve aerodynamics but also act as an excellent alignment aid to focus attention at address.
