Callaway reveal XR 16 Sub Zero driver

Tour players are always searching for the perfect launch or trajectory conditions to suit their own game, which sometimes clubs off-the-rack can’t quite deliver. So brands make special one-off’s, like Phil Mickelson’s second driver at The Masters or his “Frankenwood” fairway or the hybrid he used to slice through the rough at a US Open. Usually you the consumer don’t ever get your hands on such specialist equipment but Callaway are breaking the mould with the XR 16 Sub Zero driver and bringing a 100 XR 16 Sub Zero driver heads to the UK, giving you the opportunity to play exactly the same big dog as Phil Mickleson.

So whats different about the Sub Zero? Well Callaway say the new model offers the lowest Center of Gravity they’ve engineered in a driver ever. And it means players with high swing speeds that generate a lot of spin can use the extremely low spin Sub Zero to drive the ball even farther. There’s also a new Carbon Triax Crown that’s the lightest the companies ever created to position more weight below the neutral axis.

There’s two interchangeable weights in the head (10g and 2g) to fine tune launch and spin allowing hard hitters to maximize distance. Positioning the heavy weight forward delivers the lowest spinning, flattest trajectory or move it back to promote a slightly higher trajectory and more forgiveness. You also get a choice of 20 premium shafts, at no upcharge to fit the driver perfectly to your swing speed. And of course you also get all the benefits of Callaway’s super aerodynamic head too.

The Sub Zero will be available from 15th April with an RRP of £399. For further information visit www.callawaygolf.com
