Adam Scott on the brink

Adam Scott goes into tomorrow’s final round with a four shot lead; and – whatever happens – it will be a defining moment of his career.

“I certainly hope tomorrow night I will finally have won my first major; but I don’t really want to think about it,” he said after his third round 68. “I was nervous when I went to the 1st tee today; excited but nervous. Having Steve [Williams] on the bag has a calming effect on me. He’s seen it all before. He’s such a positive guy.”

Asked if it was ‘his to lose’ he replied: “If I play a very solid round tomorrow, it will be difficult for the others to beat me; that’s for sure.” Tomorrow is certain to be a very different test for Scott; given that he will be seeking to win a major for the first time. Weather forecasters are also saying it will be windy (up to 30 mile an hour winds) which will pose a different challenge as well.

“These first three days are probably three of the most benign days this place has seen all year,” said Scott. “But I think I know how to play this course in all sorts of different conditions. Last Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday I played it in wind; and I will drawing on those experiences tomorrow.” Should be fun to watch.
