May4 Golf ballmassage

One of the country’s top golf clubs is offering massages… using golf balls!

The treatment involves the use of heated golf balls as a massage aid and has been specifically tailored to revive golfers and dissolve the tension caused by the golf swing after an exhausting round on Loch Lomond’s championship course.

The process begins with actual golf balls being warmed in the same apparatus used to heat stones for a hot stone massage.  The technique focuses on using the heated golf balls to release targeted muscle groups in the neck, shoulders, back and feet.

Loch Lomond Golf Club Spa Manager, Anja Keller, said: “The hot golf balls give a much deeper massage than hot stones as the stones transfer heat through a flat surface.  With the hot golf balls, we have an exact point of pressure to transfer the therapeutic heat and the dimples of the ball also provide an additional massaging benefit, in a similar way to acupuncture.

“Alternatively, the golf balls can be frozen for a therapeutic massage of swollen or injured muscles and joints.”
