PING snap up starlet Danny Willett

Youngster Danny Willett has signed an endorsement deal with manufacturers PING, and will make his professional debut at this week’s Celtic Manor Wales Open.

The 20-year-old, from Rotherham, will be using a full set of PING clubs, starting with the G10 driver, fairway wood and hybrid, through to the i10 irons, Tour-W wedges and an i-Series Anser 4 putter.

Willett enjoyed a distinguished amateur career – he attained the ranking of the world’s top amateur – and also represented Great Britain and Ireland at the 2007 Walker Cup.

PING chairman John Solheim said: “Players of Danny’s calibre only come along every so often. He’s played PING for several years and we’re excited to have him join our staff.”

Willett joins the likes of Lee Westwood and Angel Cabrera in the PING playing stable.
