There have certainly been plenty of rules controversies in golf lately. From Dustin Johnson’s heartbreaking two-shot penalty at the PGA Championship last year, Camilo Villegas and Padraig Harrington’s disqualifications for signing for a wrong score this season and Elliot Saltman’s three-month ban for breaking the rules in a Challenge Tour event last year, the Rules of Golf have barely been out of the headlines.
As even the pros struggle to cope with the complexities of the rules, it’s understandable that many of us club golfers also think the rules are too complicated.
We want to know how well normal golfers know the rules so we’ve compiled a 10-question quiz that you can take right here. The results will be published in issue 281, on sale on Thursday 24 March, along with a full feature examining whether the rules are too complicated and what changes we can expect in the new 2012 Rules of Golf.
