Luke proves major First Tee hit

World no.1 Luke Donald took time out of his preparations for the Scottish and British Open to visit Burhill Golf Club, Surrey, earlier this week to provide invaluable golf  lessons to youth involved with The First Tee.

The First Tee is an initiative to teach youth, between the ages of 7 and 16, life skills through golf.

Twelve lucky students from Northolt High School travelled to Burhill Golf Club where they had the opportunity to meet the PGA pro and receive first hand coaching from him.

The event was hosted by Royal Bank of Canada, the Official Banking and Financial Services partner of Luke Donald, where Luke not only provided golf instruction to his fellow young Londoners, but discussed the importance of the values inherent in the game – including honesty and respect – and how to apply them to everyday life.

During the event, Luke signed autographs and took part in a Q&A session where he was asked about his life in golf.  Luke is an Ambassador for The First Tee of Chicago where he currently resides and is a supporter of the programme in the UK.

Dawn Roberts, Executive Director of The First Tee UK, commented:  “We are absolutely thrilled that Luke was able to take time out of his busy schedule to share his expertise and inspire our youth. I would like to thank Royal Bank of Canada for giving us this amazing opportunity.”

Luke Donald, added: “I am proud to support initiatives such as these that are vital in helping shape the next generation, both on and off the golf course.  Thanks to both Royal Bank of Canada and The First Tee for arranging this event and helping ensure the game’s core values are not lost.”
