Titleist Pro V1 and Vokey Wedge Awarded By Foremost

Titleist’s golf balls have claimed an impressive 156 wins across worldwide professional tours so far this year and now they can add the ‘Golf Ball of the Year’ to their 2012 roll of honour. The Acushnet brand also picked up the ‘Wedge of the Year’ award for their Vokey wedges.

The double prize was awarded at the recent Foremost Awards, an evening hosted by the Foremost group, who represent over 1,000 PGA Professionals from across the UK.

“We are delighted that the Pro V1 and Vokey wedges have been recognised as market leaders by Foremost members, which confirms that we are meeting the needs of the green-grass professional,” commented Ken Graham, the European Sales Director for Titleist.

“Through our golf ball fitting methodology we have been able to engage more professionals and consumers in the performance benefits of the leading golf ball, which has been a great success again this year. Our team of Titleist Brand Ambassadors have continued to bolster our market shares on worldwide professional tours, and to learn that Foremost professionals also place us as their number one ball and wedge is fantastic.”

Andy Martin, Foremost Company Director, said, “The support that Titleist has given in service and promotional activity throughout 2012 has been rewarded and this, in conjunction with the group’s digital marketing programme, has helped to drive store sales and retain margin. This pro-active approach to green-grass retail has been recognised by the Foremost members.”

Among the notable tour victories for the Pro V1 franchise this season include three of golf’s biggest prizes; The Masters, won by Pro V1x loyalist Bubba Watson, the U.S. Open, where Titleist Brand Ambassador Webb Simpson trusted a Pro V1x to win his maiden Major title, and the USPGA, where Titleist Brand Ambassador Rory McIlroy claimed his second career Major using a Pro V1x.

Titleist’s market leading golf balls have also been at the heart of the Titleist golf ball fitting initiative which has been an invaluable tool for consumers and PGA professionals to work together to find the best golf ball for each golfers’ individual game.

Vokey wedges have also remained the favourite across all levels of the game, from the European and PGA Tours to the Glenmuir PGA Professionals Championship and British Amateur Championship.

The latest SM4 model of Vokey wedges have been designed by Master Craftsman Bob Vokey, with the benefit of feedback from the best players in the world. Ten loft options ranging from 46° to 64°, multiple bounce options and a variety of tour-inspired sole grinds, and three distinct finishes ensure the latest range offers a matrix of performance characteristics to suit every player.
