Don’t Let Hayfever Ruin Your Golf Season

They say that a prevention is better than a cure, and when it comes to hayfever golfers know only too well the effects that pollen can have on your round when not looked after.

Hayfever symptoms are caused by an allergic reaction to too much pollen and when a certain level is reached – the ‘trigger level’ – then an allergic reaction occurs. By reducing the amount of pollen getting into your body, you can prevent the symptoms occurring in the first place, or reduce the effects by staying symptom-free for longer.

One way to do that is with HayMax balm, which can be rubbed on under your nose to create a pollen barrier. You can also avoid playing early in the morning or in the evening, as pollen counts are at their highest then and wear wraparound shades to reduce the amount of pollen getting into your eyes and prevent them from running.

Then when you get home, take a shower and get changed because pollen collects in the hair, so washing it will help stop it getting dispersed around the house.

It can also be caught in your clothes, so get changed in the bathroom to stop the pollen being dispersed in the living room, where you probably spend most time.

When you’re going out you can also apply a little HayMax around the base of your nostrils. The balm was developed to stop the cause of hayfever symptoms and is proven in an NPARU* study to “block over a third of pollen grains in the air before they enter the body.”

It comes in a handy pot, so fits easily into a golf bag, backpack, sports bag, handbag, briefcase or pocket. It’s drug-free, and with no drowsy side-effects, it won’t affect your performance when playing golf, driving or when you’re working.
