Lucky TG Winners Tackle Kiawah Island

Last month saw the 7th annual playing of the Friendship Cup at Kiawah Island, site of the 2012 PGA Championship, and this year it had two lucky TG competition winners in the field.

Gareth Wilson and Will Swindley from Wychwood Golf Club won the chance to play the famous Ocean Course and the Jack Nicklaus designed Turtle Point course in a competition ran by TG,VPAR Live Golf Scoring and De Vere.

For the second year running, the tournament’s official scoring was provided by VPAR, whose system allows players to follow a real-time leaderboard on handheld scorepads.

This addition added an interactive element to the tournament accumulating to a real sense of excitement from the leaders begin their march to glory to those battling for pride and position towards the foot of the leaderboard.

The friendly atmosphere amongst competitors over breakfast on day 1 soon dissipated as teams took to the course in search of the 2013 crown. The lead swung back and fourth throughout the day, with VPAR ensuring each team knew what was needed to lead the pack with The Bushwood Ballers finishing top after the opening round.

Day 2 rolled into action with a sense of anticipation hanging in the air. Several teams fought a hard battle for top spot but after two great days of golf the winners finally emerged. The Bushwood Ballers, Michael Iwanicki and Chuck Kalenowski, had managed to hold on to their first round lead to complete a stunning, and in the end, emphatic victory.

The TG duo praised their experience, saying: “VPAR was fantastic, very easy to use and the live leaderboard was great for the competition really adding to the excitement”.

John Haskins, at Kiawah Island Resort went on to say, “The more I play with this device, the more excited I get about your company.”
