Getting ready for the ultimate golfing test

Golfing pals Bob Warner and Andy Norris are preparing for the ultimate golfing test – the Five5s Golf Challenge.

The Five5s Challenge is a golfing marathon which will see the intrepid duo play 5 rounds of golf each day, for 5 days, on 5 courses, in 5 different countries and, all being well, raising £5k each for the Seve Foundation.

The challenge will start in Ireland on Monday 23rd of June and will continue through Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales before finishing in England on Friday 27th June.

Venues for this amazing golfing extravaganza are currently being decided but Bedfordshire pair Andy (33) and Bob (35) are optimistic they can stay the most gruelling of courses.

Bob initially thought of the idea last year after doing the Macmillan Longest Day golf challenge, saying: “We both like a challenge and decided to take this one on.

“We have chosen to raise cash for the Seve Foundation, set up by the great Seve Ballesteros in 2009 for research into brain cancer. The foundation works with Cancer Research UK raising funds for vital research projects.

“For obvious reasons this charity fits our challenge particularly well but our real motivation is for the families that have been through or are going through the pain and suffering of seeing this disease affect their loved ones.

“Our efforts are dedicated to all those families out there and hopefully we can go some way to avoiding more people having to go through the same.” Bob’s sister-in-law tragically died of a brain tumour in 2006.

Andy and Bob have already received plenty of backing in their bid including most notably from Hampshire-based Marquis Motorhomes and Caravans www.marquisleisure.co.uk/five-golf)who have agreed to provide them with a motorhome for the Scotland-Wales-England leg of the challenge.
