Kaymer makes it back-to-back victories

German Martin Kaymer followed up his French Open triumph with an impressive two shot victory at the Barclays Scottish Open yesterday.

The 24-year-old showed great control on and around the greens to close out the tournament with a 69, giving him a -15 total of 269.

Kaymer finished two shots clear of Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano and Raphael Jacquelin, who carded four birdies in his final six holes.

A fruitful two weeks has propelled Kaymer to number 11 in the world rankings and 2nd in the Race to Dubai.

Across the pond Steve Stricker’s second win of the season at the John Deere Classic lifted him to sixth in the world rankings.

His -20 total was three shots better than nearest challengers Zach Johnson, Brandt Snedeker and Brett Quigley.

23-year-old Korean Eun Hee Ji won the US Women’s Open with an even par total of 284, a shot clear of Candie Kung.

It was a good week for the amateurs as Jennifer Song finished T13, Jessica Korda, daughter of the former tennis star Petr, finished T26 and 14-year-old Alexis Thimpson ended T34.
