Young Matteo makes history

The Open Championship In Association With Nikon

Sixteen-year-old Italian Matteo Manassero had an unbelievable Open.

Not only did he play on the first two days with Tom Watson and Sergio Garcia, he won the Silver Medal and in doing so put himself into the Open history books.

He’s the youngest Open competitor in the modern era and the youngest winner of the coveted Silver Medal – contested by amateur players – since it was introduced 60 years ago.

Manassero, whose hero is Seve Ballesteros, showed his enormous potential with a final round one-under-par 69 for a +2 total.
