Fantasy League Preview: Dubai Desert Classic

We stay on the European Tour for the final event of the Desert Swing in this week’s Fantasy League.

Rory McIlroy claimed his first professional victory at the Dubai Desert Classic this year and he and European number one Lee Westwood head another top-class field at Emirates GC.

With 94 European Tour winners and six major champions teeing it up this week, including Tom Watson, it promises to be a spectacular event.

Such rich pickings make it hard to select just six players for your Fantasy League team, but here are TG’s tips:

Soren Hansen $1.6m
The world number 46 has eight top 20s in his last 11 events and signed for a closing 68 in Qatar on Sunday.

Peter Hanson $1.4m
The Swede has been quietly going about his business in a very effective manner in recent month’s and another good finish to add to his T11 and T14 already this season would lift him into the top 50 and give him a chance of qualifying for the Masters.

Martin Kaymer $3.2m
The 25-year-old is fast-becoming one of the most prolific winners on Tour, loves playing in the desert and is full of confidence after winning in Abu Dhabi.

Rory McIlroy $3.2m
The defending champion has broken into the world’s top 10 with 10 tops 10s in his last 11 tournaments. A second victory, and many more, are surely just around the corner.

Lee Westwood $4.0m
The 2009 Race to Dubai winner made a slow start to the season after missing the cut in Abu Dhabi, but he looks to be back to somewhere near his best with a third-placed finish in Qatar.

You have until 3.30am on Thursday 4th February to pick you six-man team at www.fantasyleaguegolf.co.uk. Good luck!
