Big Storm

A big storm hit Augusta National last night. Lightning struck the course at about midnight and several trees were lost on the property.

The gates to the course weren’t open on time, and the huge crowds waiting to see the second last day of practise were kept waiting for over an hour.

Golf World’s columnist, John Huggan, who had been at the tournament in Houston last week, had an especially turbulent start to his week. He flew with six journalists from Atlanta to Augusta late last night, and midflight, they had to turn back, because the storm was so bad.Eventually they took a cab from Atlanta to Augusta, through the night, arriving before dawn.

And power is out all around the course.

The good news is the weather is supposed to get back to calm conditions by the time the first round starts on Thursday morning; with temperatures due to return to the low 80s.
