ohair wins in canada

Sean O’Hair has had a rough ride this season, but turned it round with a battling PGA Tour victory at The Canadian Open on Sunday.

O’Hair has missed 10 out of 17 cuts this year and did not make it for the weekend at The Open at Royal St George’s. And after the Pro-Am on Wednesday he was at his lowest ebb. “I was lost on Wednesday” admitted the struggling 29-year-old.

The Shaugnessy golf course proved tough with only eight players finishing under par. O’Hair fired a final-round 68 to get into a play-off. And his rival, Kris Blanks missed a short bogey putt to hand O’Hair the win.

Fans favourite John Daly had his first top 10 finish in six years. Daly ground out a 72 on Sunday to tie for 9th. He said: “In the past I would have shot an 80 or 82 today.”

Luke Donald rallied on the final day with a 67, but it was only enough to lift him into a tie for 17th.
