donald takes early lead

Luke Donald has made a superb start at the BMW Championship at Wentworth by shooting an incredible 64, seven under!

Donald will move to World Number One if German Martin Kaymer finishes outside the top 10 and if he finished ahead of Lee Westwood.

Kaymer is currently level par and Westwood has finished his opening round one over.

So Donald is in a great postion to captilise on his great start and imporve on his tied second result a year ago. Donald has been the model of consistency over the last two years and looks ready to take the top spot.

He may not be the longest player on Tour but his irons are superbly accurate and his putting second-to-none.

After his round the affable Englishman said: “Thatwas probably one of the best rounds I have ever played to be honest.

“It was tough out there. The wind was swirling and there were some rain showers… and this isn’t an easy course in the best of conditions. I just kept seeing the shots and was able to hit them.”

Young Italian Matteo Manassero also put in a great first round. The 18-year-old is just two behind Donald. The young superstar has already won twice on the European Tour and seems destined for greatness.

You could pick Donald or Manassero for your TG Fantasy Golf team. Socring starts at The Open in July so you need to sign up niow and pick your dream team right now. It’s free to play and there are some stunning prizes on offer!
