Fantasy Golf: Hong Kong Open preview

It’s the penultimate week of the 2012 Today’s Golfer Fantasy Golf game, in association with Your Golf Travel, and a strong showing at the European Tour’s Hong Kong Open could prove pivotal in the overall standings and private leagues.
Fanling has hosted the tournament since it was first played in 1959 and it’s been a European Tour event for the past 11 years. It’s currently co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour.
The course is a classic tree-lined layout which favours accuracy and crisp iron play. Length is not a huge factor and previous experience of the course is a definite bonus.
Here is TG’s six-man team for the Hong Kong Open:
Rory McIlroy, $5.0m
The Northern Irishman has already secured the Race to Dubai, but he’ll want to finish the season with a bang here and next week in Dubai. He’s the defending champion in Hong Kong and has only finished outside the top 10 once since The Open.
Paul Casey, $2.8m
After a season dogged by injury, the former world number three has been resurgent in recent weeks. His last four results read 3-T5-T6-T10.
Matteo Manassero, $2.0m
The teenager won in Singapore last week to make it three straight European Tour seasons with a victory and jump into the world top 50. He finished T2 here in 2010. He’s 13th on Tour in putts per round.
Anders Hansen, $1.9m
The Dane is 24th on Tour in driving accuracy and has quietly notched nine top-15 finishes this season. He was T7 in Singapore last week.
YE Yang, $1.8m
The 2009 PGA Champion hasn’t had a great 2012 but has shown signs of a return to form playing in Asia recently. He has three top-10s in four starts, including a runners-up finish.
Paul Lawrie, $1.3m
The Scot has two wins, a further six tops 10s and a Ryder Cup victory to his name this year. He ranks 25th on Tour in greens in regulation.
