Fantasy Golf: RBC Heritage preview

After an exciting first week at the Masters, the Today’s Golfer Fantasy Golf game stays in America for the RBC Heriate at Hilton Head.

The par-71 layout measures just 7,101 yards and always ranks inside the top 10 for shortest driving courses on the PGA Tour, so driving distance is somewhat irrelevant.

The course favours accurate ball strikers and strategists who can plan their way round. The greens are small so GIR aren;t easy to come by and one putting once you find the surface takes on even greater importance.

Fourteen of the 34 who finished inside the top 25 plus ties at Augusta National are in the field of 144 players.

Here is Today’s Golfer’s six-man team for the RBC Heritage:

Brandt Snedeker, £4.0m
The 54-hole leader at the Masters faded to a T6 but it was the first weekend he’s played in two months due to injury and a couple of missed cuts on his return. Started the season with a win, two runners-up and a third and won here in 2011.

Matt Kuchar, £3.6m
The world number nine has made seven straight cuts at Harbour Town, including four top 25 finishes. He was T8 at Augusta last week and he’s 24th for the season in strokes gained – putting.

Jim Furyk, £2.2m
The 2010 Heritage champion has six top 10s in his last nine starts here. His T25 at the Masters was his 12th consecutive made cut and he ranks 7th on the PGA Tour in fairways hit.

Jason Day, £2.2m
The Aussie looked really good at the Masters before bogeys on 16 and 17 saw him finish third. When he was co-runner-up at the Masters in 2011, he tied for 9th at Harbour Town two weeks later.

Bill Haas, £2.1m
The world number 28 doesn’t have a great record at the course but he’s in great form with five top 10s already this season and a T20 at the Masters. He’s 6th on the PGA Tour in greens in regulation.

Boo Weekley, £0.6m
The 2008 Ryder Cup star is enjoying a resurgent 2013 season. He’s made his last eight cuts, including a T8 in Puerto Rico and a runner-up in Tampa Bay. He won the Heritage in 2007 and 2008.
