Oulton Hall Steps In To Host Future Tour Stars

De Vere Oulton Hall is set to host Stage 1 of the PGA EuroPro Tour Qualfying School this week after adverse weather in Northumberland meant De Vere Slaley Hall had to pull out.

The championship standard and immaculate conditioned resort near Leeds has stepped, with the 36-hole stroke-play event now running on the 3rd and 4th of April.

Oulton Hall already boasts a rich tournament heritage having hosted the prestigious Leeds Cup, the world’s oldest professional trophy, since 2010 and the addition of the PGA EuroPro Tour confirms the venues championship credentials.

The EuroPro Tour is a stepping stone for up-and-coming touring professionals, with previous members including European Tour winners Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Richard Finch and Scott Jamieson.

“We’re delighted to welcome EuroPro Qualifying School to Oulton Hall, and I’m sure the course will provide a fantastic test for the players,” commented Keith Pickard, Director of Golf, De Vere Oulton Hall.

“Our courses have stood up exceptionally well to the testing weather we have had recently, and Neil Smith and his team have worked tirelessly over the weekend to ensure we present a strong, fair challenge. We have great experience of hosting professional events, so although we haven’t had as long as we would like to pull everything together, this is a great way for us to start an exciting season.”

“We are extremely grateful to Keith and the team at De Vere Oulton Hall for agreeing to host Q School at such short notice,” commented Daniel Godding, Director of Operations, PGA EuroPro Tour.

“Their understanding and efficiency to not only present a great course, but also take care of players’ off-course needs, such as hotel rooms and catering, have saved Q-School. We have enjoyed a number of successful tournaments at De Vere venues across the UK, and I’m sure this weeks’ Q-School will be another great success and an exciting way to start our 2013 season.”

Spectators are welcome and entry to the event is free.
