Fantasy Golf: BMW Championship preview

The Today’s Golfer Fantasy Golf game heads back to America this week for the resumption of the FedEx Cup Play-offs; the BMW Championship at Conway Farms GC, Chicago.

The top 70 players of the FedEx Cup arrive at a course hosting its first PGA Tour event. There is no cut but only the top 30 in the standings after the tournament will advance to next week’s Tour Championship.

Conway Farms is 7,149-yard par-71 layout. It’s tight off the tee and the greens are relatively small so accuracy off the tee and with approaches is paramount.

Despite its relatively short length, wind is always a factor so players will need to control their ball flight.

Here is TG’s six-man team for the BMW Championship:

Steve Stricker, £3.8m
Stricker finished solo second at TPC Boston last time out, his third runner-up finish in 11 starts this season. He ranks first in par-4 scoring and second in greens hit in regulation, adjusted scoring and the all-around.

Matt Kuchar, £3.6m
The world number seven has eight top 10s this season – including at the Deautsche Bank – and currently sits fourth in the FedEx Cup. He’s sixth on Tour in adjusted scoring.

Jason Dufner, £2.8m
The US PGA Champion has three top 10s in his last four starts. He’s 39th on the PGA Tour in driving accuracy and 23rd in greens in regulation.

Zach Johnson, £2.2m
Johnson’s T27 at the Deutsche Bank Championship ended a run of five consecutive top 10s, but he co-led the field in fairways hit and ranked T7 in greens in regulation.

Henrik Stenson, £1.8m
The Deutsche Bank champion now sits atop the FedEx Cup standings. He recorded five top 10s in six starts before that and sits fourth in total driving and fifth in adjusted scoring.

Roberto Castro, £0.6m
He climbed inside the top 30 in FedEx Cup points (25th) with a T9 at TPC Boston, his eighth top 25 since a T19 at the Players Championship. He’s 20th on Tour in driving accuracy.
