Justin Rose’s caddie to undergo heart surgery

Gareth Lord is taking over as Justin Rose’s caddie for the next few weeks as regular caddie Mark ‘Fooch’ Fulcher is set to undergo a ‘little’ heart surgery on Thurdsay

Fooch took to twitter on Tuesday to thank Henrik Stenson’s former bagman for taking his place for the next few weeks, and said he will ‘hopefully be back sooner than later’.

Rose, who is making his first worldwide start in 2019 at the PGA Tour’s Desert Springs this week in California, said ‘everyone is thinking about Fooch this week’, and that his wife was set to fly to New York to be with him.

“Obviously everyone is thinking about Fooch right now,” Rose told Golf Channel.

“I think my wife is going to go up to New York and just be there for him. Obviously he’s in great hands with great doctors.

“He’s got a heart procedure Thursday morning, it’s a mechanical thing going on so hopefully he can be right as rain very soon but obviously surgery is surgery so it’s going to take him some time to recover, so we all wish him well for that.

“We’ve got Gareth Lord, long-time caddie of Henrik Stenson and someone that is a great friend of Fooches and a friend of mine and someone that we know my bag will be in good hands with for the first few weeks of the season so Fooch can be back out here.”
