Lee Westwood has criticised Augusta National for being too tough for the world’s best players.

The Brit – who’s eight over after shooting 79-73 – said: “It just asks too many questions that there is no answer to.

“When the course was shorter more of us would have had an answer, but now there are only six or seven people in the field who can win it. It is a bit of a shame really because it used to be a shot-maker’s course.

“I wouldn’t say it’s unfair, but it is not fair for everybody,” added Westwood.

South African  Retief Goosen is also eight over after two 76s – the cut is the leading score +10, so it could be between seven and 10 over this evening. Zach Johnson is currently top, on three under.

Westwood’s pal Darren Clarke is 10 over after shooting 71 – 12 shots better than his opening 83.

Denmark’s Thomas Bjorn could also be going home after a pair of 77s.
