jan30 Champs of champs

One of the biggest competitions in amateur golf is back for 2008 – the HSBC and Golf World Champion of Champions.

We’ve joined forces with HSBC to relaunch the prestigious contest, which is open to every reigning club champion in the UK – and it’s FREE to enter.

The competition will culminate in a grand final at the renowned Turnberry Resort in Ayrshire in September, where players will compete on the revamped Ailsa course – host of the 2009 Open – the neighbouring Kintyre course, and stay in the five-star hotel.

Anyone who won their club’s premier strokeplay event in 2007 can enter the competition and follow in the footsteps of previous winner Gary Lockerbie, who went on to successfully graduate to the European Tour.

Right now, all you need to do is e-mail us to say you’re a reigning club champion, and that you’d like to take part in Champion of Champions. Send your e-mail to Golf World Editor chris.jones@emap.com

Over the next few weeks, you will also be also to apply online, or through your club secretary, who will receive a letter detailing entry criteria within the next few weeks.

Qualifying events will take place all over the UK during the summer, including regional qualifiers in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. From there, it’s off to Turnberry!
