Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson will both be hoping it’s a case of early rise and shine at Loch Lomond on Thursday.

The superstars open their Barclays Scottish Open account with early starts on the 10th hole, former winner Els getting underway at 8am alongside Scot Marc Warren and Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin while American Mickelson is next off on the 10th tee at 8.10 alongside reigning champion Johan Edfors and England’s Graeme Storm, a recent victor in France.

And following on from this trio on the 10th will be new US Open champion Angel Cabrera who is paired with Luke Donald and Gary Orr of Scotland.

Colin Montgomerie, fresh from his European Open success in Ireland last week, tees off at 1pm against Ryder Cup colleagues Jose Maria Olazabal and Ian Poulter and ten minutes later, also on the 1st tee, sees Darren Clarke get underway alongside David Howell and in-form South African Richard Sterne.

There should also be a big crowd watching the 1.20pm trio which features double US Open champion Retief Goosen, Spanish star Sergio Garcia and Trevor Immelman, another South African in the top 20 in the World Rankings.
