The nitty gritty of The Open is now underway… but without some massive names who failed to survive the weekend cut which in the end, after a frenetic conclusion to the 2nd round, was +4.

Most notable absentees included Scots Colin Montgomerie and defending champion Paul Lawrie who both missed out by one shot. Also on the way home are strongly-faniced Phil Mickelson (+6), former US Open champion Geoff Ogilvy (+7) and Davis Love III (+8).
