Foreign companies developing new golf courses in Scotland is nothing new, but when two men of the calibre of Mark Parsinen and Dan Reiner combine, only good things can happen. The names might not be familiar but their previous projects are anything but; Parsinen created and owned Kingsbarns while Reiner is the principal shareholder of Club Corp, an American company that owns some 400 golf clubs, including Pebble Beach and Pinehurst.

Castle Stuart on the Moray Firth near Inverness is the site of their latest collaboration, and judging by early reports, the 420-acre site is being transformed into a stunning Championship links. Work began last summer and is expected to finish towards the back end of next year with a Summer 2009 opening planned. Parsinen has decided to share the process with the world by recording a fortnightly video diary, click here for the first instalment.
