The Hybrids Test 2014: Wilson Staff FG Tour M3
Cost: £149
Tech: Three loft settings all with 2° upright lie angle options. Also three sole weight options to create ideal trajectory and speed.
What we said… James Ridyard: “Even the standard lofts felt upright, causing decent shots to turn over a fraction. The hosel is unusually thick, a little perturbing.” Joel Tadman: “Besides the draw-bias lie angle, it looks like it’s aimed at the better player with its compact design and deep face. I got a penetrating and long flight when struck well. Feels and sounds muted, impression ball doesn’t come off fast.” Peter Ward: “I like the overall look. It feels light, powerful when you connect with good distance.” Ross Nichols: “Compact look. Simple to hit well, long and straight. Just wanted to pull another ball.”
Pros: Better player look with some draw bias.
Cons: Finish lacks class. Hosel is thick.
