Jason Day’s WGC Accenture Matchplay winning clubs

Jason Day eventually emerged victorious after a titanic battle with Victor Dubuisson in the final of the WGC Accenture Matchplay at Dove Mountain.

The Australian secured victory on the 23rd hole of the final after his opponent got out of trouble with two near-miraculous recovery shots from the cacti on the first two play-off holes.

Playing at nearly 3,000 feet above sea level, drives this week were going extremely long at times. Day conquered the 7,800+ yard Dove Mountain layout with his SLDR driver. He also made some critical putts in pressure situations using a prototype version of the Ghost Tour Monte Carlo putter, which features no alignment line on the crown.

He also played the new Tour Preferred MC irons and Tour Preferred X golf ball whilst wearing adidas Golf puremotion apparel and the new adizero one footwear throughout the tournament. At 272 grams, the adizero one is the lightest cleated performance golf shoe in the adidas Golf footwear collection. This win marks the third victory for adizero one footwear in 2014.

Now owning an impressive 14-3 career match play record at the event following his semi-final appearance last year, the win is Day’s second PGA TOUR victory and his 2nd worldwide win in the last 3 months, having previously won the 2013 ISPS Handa World Cup in November.

Also with the victory, Day improves to 11th in the FedExCup standings and 4th in the Official World Golf Ranking, his highest-ever ranking as a PGA TOUR professional.
