adidas Primeblue Polo – £55

Last year, adidas unveiled a golf shoe made from upcycled plastic waste. It was a first in golf – and the PRIMEBLUE collection is the next step in a plan that will see adidas convert 100% of its virgin polyester to recycled in every application where a solution exists by 2024.

This plastic is intercepted on remote islands, beaches, coastal communities and shorelines, preventing it polluting our seas. It’s then turned into high-performance polyester yarn used in apparel and footwear, including two polo shirts. In the spring/summer 2020 golf collection alone, 71% of the apparel and 75% of the footwear uses material made from recycled polyester.

Ocean Tee Mako Polo – £59.99

You may have come across Ocean Tee’s sustainably-sourced bamboo golf tees, But this new brand is about far more than tees.

Founder Ed Sandison – a former marine biologist who has a vision to make golf greener – is about to enter the golf clothing market with this tailored polo shirt.

The Mako shirt is named after the fastest shark in the ocean, which is now an endangered species.

It’s made from a premium blend of 97% organic cotton and 3% biodegradable elastane, in the only factory in the world to so far have met the textiles’ procurement standard set by Greenpeace. Under that standard, organically farmed natural fibres, fair pay and transparency are uniquely combined.
