Casterton Golf Club

What we say

Casterton Golf Club is a nine-hole golf course set in parkland with a rocky outcrop and the advantages of natural drainage due to limestone rock. The golf course is par 70, 5666 yards with tight fairways, but not long holes, and enjoys panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.

Since John and Elizabeth Makinson took over the golf course in 1991 it has been radically altered and extended. New tees and greens have been built and in 1996 they opened a purpose-built clubhouse with changing facilities, shop and all-day catering. There is also a practice area, driving net and putting green.

  • 5 out of 5 A gem in the Dales / Eastern Lakes

    By Ian Mulroy

This is a great 9 hole course - each hole offering different challenges and opportunities but it is easily navigable by high handicappers whilst offering a test to the low handicappers. The greens staff are to be commended as the course is always maintained to high standard. The winter greens do leave something to be desired (statement from 2014) but this doesn't unduly detract from the enjoyment of playing here. The cafe and pro-shop are also both to be commended and they are staffed by nice friendly people. I urge you to give it a try - you will not be disappointed.

A good course we'll presented and very tidy not all holes easy especially when there is a wind.. A nice little cafe to have a drink after or a meal after A round.

  • 4.5 out of 5 Excellent, well manicured course & a friendly welcome

Do not be put off by this only being a nine hole course. The greens staff have worked on many a famous course around the country. The fairways are testing, and the greens are true. If you can play well here you can play most other courses around. Do not miss a chance to play the best kept secret of the Lakes. P.S. Stunning views as you play.
