What we say...

Motocaddy’s Flightsafe golf travel cover converts from a compact cube into one of the most protective bits of kit we have ever used.

It’s little surprise that a brand responsible for some of the best electric golf trolleys has created something that makes transporting your clubs so easy.

If there’s one irritation when it comes to many of the best golf travel bags, it’s the size. Even if you’re fortunate enough to be a regular golf jet-setter, you’ve still got to find somewhere to keep the bulky travel bag when it’s they’re not being used to protect and transport your precious sticks.

Of course, they need to be solid enough to ensure a heavy-handed airport worker or a slide onto the luggage carousel doesn’t leave your driver looking like a tulip without water, but you space-saving solutions are all the rage in the modern world.

Thankfully Motocaddy, who make some of the best golf bags, have created just that with the Flightsafe folding down into a self-contained cube in a matter of seconds when not on use but providing ultimate ease and protection for your clubs when in transit.

The bag that is used to store your travel cover secures around the top of your golf clubs with its reinforced finish protecting the clubheads and most fragile part of the shafts.

Motocaddy have used strong, durable nylon and loads of padding, for ultimate protection and to ensure the case has a long life, even if you are a frequent flyer. Six smooth rolling wheels make getting through train stations and airports an absolute breeze and there’s additional storage space with an external pocket.

Adjustable internal straps help to keep your clubs even more secure, and the cover is more than big enough to transport everything up to a large tour bag with ease.

What Motocaddy say about the Flightsafe

“I pulled my headcover off on the first tee and the head went one way and the shaft was just left hanging,” said CEO John Helas, reflecting on a bad experience of traveling with his clubs.

“Several people I spoke to about it had the same story. So, instead of having to take the heads off clubs for safe travel, we developed the Flightsafe. We’re delighted with the result, as traveling golfers can now avoid their golf trip being ruined by broken clubs!”

Today’s Golfer verdict

The Motocaddy Flightsafe is the best all-around golf travel cover I have used and has made traveling with my clubs a far more pleasurable experience. The compact nature of the Flightsafe, coupled with the additional storage space, protective head design and multiple handles for ease of use, means it’s my No.1 golf travel cover choice.

I’ve used Flightsafe on a coach, trains, and several flights, and it’s always ensured a comfortable and safe journey, although I think it could benefit from a slightly softer handle. It’s also easy to fit into any car (we had it in a Mini on our most recent trip). I really like the six-wheel design, which allows for quick changes of direction, and the additional storage pocket is very useful for shoes and accessories.

It’s got a premium look but is exceptionally durable, showing no signs of wear and tear despite being scraped against barriers and curbs, and the zips have been designed for use with a padlock (not included) for extra security.

Fears that the unfolding and folding process would be akin to getting a tent back into its bag were quickly appeased. I followed the simple instructions the first time I folded the cover back down and can now comfortably return it to its compact cube shape in less than 30 seconds.

At £199.99 it’s as expensive as many good golf bags, but it really is worth the outlay to ensure your valuable clubs are fully protected.
