Today’s Golfer dives into the bag of South African golfer Dylan Frittelli to reveal the equipment used by the PGA and three-time European Tour winner.
Finishing on 13-under par after rounds of 67, 68, 69, and 71, South Africa’s Dylan Frittelli returned to the European Tour winner’s circle for the first time in six years with a two-stroke victory at the Bahrain Championship.
On securing the win, Dylan said: “It has been a long road the last five or six years since I left the DP World Tour and went to the States. It was a pretty tough year last year in America, but it feels awesome to be back on top right now.”
Frittelli, the 54-hole leader, looked as if he may have opened the door for the chasing pack when sitting on +2 after 12 holes, but quickly slammed it shut with three birdies in four holes to recapture and hold on to the lead from Zander Lombard and Jesper Svensson.
The Callaway Staffer last lifted silverware in 2019, winning the John Deere Classic for his only victory to date on the PGA Tour. Frittelli has further European Tour wins however from 2017 at the Lyoness Open and AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
The win in the Middle East couldn’t have come at a better time either. A tough stint on the PGA Tour saw Dylan miss the cut or withdraw from 23 of his 27 starts in 2023, leaving him contemplating his future in the game.
The victory catapulted Frittelli to No.8 in the Race to Dubai Rankings, climbing a mammoth 243 places to 191 in the Official Golf World Rankings, and hopefully providing the confidence needed to kick on and hit the form that saw him finish 5th at The Masters and The Open in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Dylan Frittelli uses a Callaway JAWS Mack Daddy 5 lob wedge (60°), and Callaway Apex wedges (P, A, S).
We weren’t massive fans of the previous MD4 wedges as the toe was very rounded, which drew the eye unnecessarily. But MD5 is much more attractively shaped and desirable.
Being a tour-style wedge, Jaws has a very sharp leading edge which calls for precise and accurate ball striking, especially on damp turf or sand. In the wrong hands, sharp edges increase the likelihood of heavy and fat shots. The Chrome Tour X has a compression of 98 and the company is reporting ball speed gains of 1.5 – 3mph during internal testing. Interestingly the speed gains don’t come from a firmer compression.
