What’s In The Bag: Angel Yin

Today’s Golfer takes a look inside the bag of LPGA Tour golfer and LET winner Angel Yin

Jump To: Yin’s WITB

Angel Yin is another American golfer who has been on the world stage for years and is still incredibly young. The 24-year-old enjoyed a successful amateur career and turned professional in 2016.

Today's Golfer What's In The Bag is brought to you in association with Callaway Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X golf balls.

The American’s rookie season on the LPGA Tour was in 2017 and this proved to be a very important year for Yin’s growth and development in the game. That season Yin had five top 10 finishes on the LPGA Tour and conquered all to win the LET Omega Dubai Ladies Classic (now Dubai Moonlight Classic). At the end of the 2017 season, Yin was awarded a captain’s pick for the Solheim Cup – the same happened again in 2023.

Angel Yin plays on the LPGA Tour and is a winner on the LET

Yin was one of the 12 golfers who made their way to Finca Cortesin for the 2023 Solheim Cup. Despite not having a win since 2017, the American did enough to impress Team USA Captain, Stacy Lewis. Earlier in the year, Yin came ever so close to Major glory, but she was defeated by fellow American, Lilia Vu, in a playoff at the Chevron Championship.

This season Yin has enjoyed four top 10s in total at some very illustrious events, including a T6 at the AIG Women’s Open – that kind of form doesn’t go unnoticed. Yin may not have qualified automatically for the Solheim Cup as she did in 2019, but she was one of the stars of the USA Team that headed to Andalucia.

The Californian golfer has tasted success in the past and she’ll be hungry for it once again, it could come soon building off her impressive 2023 results and Solheim Cup performance. Let’s take a look at the equipment Yin currently uses.

What’s In The Bag: Angel Yin

What driver does Angel Yin use?

Angel Yin uses a Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond Driver with a Diamana RF shaft

For most of this season, Yin has had a Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond driver in the bag, but she has recently been spotted with a Ping G430 LST driver in there - which one will she take to Spain?

Yin clearly likes the lower spinning heads, she did previously play with a Ping driver so she might want to switch back. Her distance isn't bad, averaging 262.92 yards off the tee this season, but her dispersion can definitely improve because she ranks 135th for accuracy off the tee in 2023.

What fairway wood does Angel Yin use?

Angel Yin plays a Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero Fairway Wood (13.5°) with a Fujikura Speeder Evolution shaft

Price: £269.00 / $299.99 RRP
Yin is one of many golfers who depend on their fairway wood - especially if the driver is misbehaving. Hence, the American has a very strong lofted fairway wood. Yin's Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero is the 3+ model which has 13.5° of loft which helps off the tee and attacking par 5s.

What hybrid does Angel Yin use?

Angel Yin has a Callaway Apex 19 Hybrid with a Fujikura Ventus Blue shaft

Price: £99.99 / $95.99 - $231.99 (pre-owned)
Yin's clubs are somewhat mysterious because she doesn't have a contract with any club manufacturer. However, this is her third Callaway club and we're only at the hybrid! This isn't the latest model, it was released in 2019. Yin can be found using this club quite often from the fairway. She must prefer to play a hybrid rather than a long iron for extra forgiveness and versatility.

What irons does Angel Yin use?

Angel Yin has a full set of Callaway Apex TCB Irons

Price: £1100.00 / $1100.00
Yet again another Callaway product in Yin's bag, she may as well have a contract at this point. Her irons are the TCB, you might have seen a certain Spaniard playing with these (Jon Rahm). These are for the very best ball strikers, not just some mere mortal.

Her set goes from a 4 or 5-iron through to a pitching wedge and we think she plays with KBS C-Taper or C-Taper Lite shafts because of the smooth finish.

What wedges does Angel Yin use?

Angel Yin has some PXG 0311 Forged Wedges in her bag

Price: £149.99 / $149.99 RRP
Wow, a different brand to Callaway! Yin's wedges are PXG 0311 Forged wedges from 2017. It's always surprising to find old wedges in a Tour Pros bag because they tend to be the first clubs to wear and need replacing. However, it's highly unlikely Yin is playing with the same wedges she did in 2017.

Around the greens, Yin is a very skillful player, especially in the bunkers. This season Yin ranks 7th for sand saves with up and downs from the hazards 56.96% of the time. Yin also carries another wedge in her back that appears to be a prototype, not PXG (or Callaway), but at this moment we're unsure what it is and this makes knowing her lofts very difficult - as soon as we get the information we will pass it on to you.

The model Yin plays with has been discontinued but you can pick up the newer model.

What putter does Angel Yin use?

Burke AI-77 Putter

Angel Yin plays with a Burke AI-77 Putter

As if this bag couldn't get any more mysterious! You won't find many Tour players with a Burke golf club in the bag, but of course, Angel Yin has and it's red. The American is strong on the greens but this year she's slipped. Could it be worth swapping back to one of her old putters?

Unfortunately, this putter isn't available to the public just yet.

What golf balls does Angel Yin use?

Angel Yin plays with Titleist Pro V1 Golf Balls

Price: $54.97
Not having a contract with any specific manufacturer means that Yin is free to play with whatever golf balls she pleases. It's perhaps unsurprising that she chooses to play with Titleist Pro V1 golf balls. After all, they are the No.1 golf ball on Tour and one of the best premium golf balls on the market.
