Former England football hero David Platt’s Major Golf company has teamed up with Tom Warsop of Tailormade Luxury Golf Holidays to launch a brand new concept – The Prestige Golf Tour.

Members of the Tour will be invited to play in one or more events which will be staged on 6 of the UK’s most famous courses. Every event is open to all golfers who would like to experience fun, competitive golf at venues where they will follow in the footsteps of the top pros.

The added incentive – as if any were needed – is the opportunity of qualifying for the grand final which will be played at Loch Lomond Golf Club (pictured right) on a day hosted by David Platt.

Points will be awarded for a top 10 finish in each event with the best 3 finishes counting towards the final leaderboard, whereby the top 4 players will win the invitation to play the exclusive Loch Lomond GC.

To increase the competitive nature of the tour, winners will be radically handicapped and players finishing low in the field will gain shots for the next event.

Although the final leaderboard is all important for the chance to play Loch Lomond, each event will be prestigious in its own right, with trophies awarded and, for the winner, the opportunity to defend their title the following year at no charge.

David Platt said: “Tom’s initial idea of a prestige golf society interested me enough to become involved and give it a unique twist of running it as a tour with the opportunity of playing Loch Lomond. It’s an exciting concept which takes society golf into a new dimension.”
