Don’t know where to get some golfing action this weekend? Let us give you a helping hand. The new season may still be weeks away but here’s 10 tracks which are guaranteed to give you a good game…whatever the weather may be throwing at them!
These little beauties are all located by the coast so benefit from great natural drainage, making them playable virtually 365 days a year…usually on the normal tees and greens.
If that’s not enough, they all offer superb value for money as they belong to our 2-FORE!-1 scheme, allowing you and your best golfing mate to tee it up for half the normal green fee rates.
You can’t get much better or fairer than that can you? So what are you waiting for? Pull that 2-FORE!-1 voucher out of your wallet and book a round to remember: NOW.
10 COASTAL CRACKERS…
1. Lyme Regis, Dorset
What: A par 71 clifftop colossus that dramatically overlooks the historic town and World Heritage Site of Lyme Regis. Vertigo sufferers beware!
2. Walmer & Kingsdown, Kent
You’ll have a ball – even if the wind is blowing – on this stunning par 72 track James Braid track perched on the White Cliffs. A real white knuckle ‘ride’…
3. Holyhead, Gwynedd, Wales
Another Braid classic, this one measuring just over 6,000 yards (par 71). OK it’s short but shouldn’t be underestimated, specially when the wind whips up off the Irish sea.
4. Knott End, Lancs
A fine mix of links and parkland holes and your approach play needs to be spot-on to find the small, well guarded greens.
5. Dunstanburgh Castle, Northumberland
What: This par 70 links layout lies in the shadow of the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle. And, although short at just under 6,300 yards, it has ruined many a scorecard too!
6. Royal Tarlair, Aberdeenshire, Scotland
A cliff top parkland course offering breathtaking panoramic views and arguably the most exciting par 3 (the 13th) you’re ever likely to play!
7. Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset
It’s flat, easy-walking and it’s great fun. Watch out though for the greens – they can be lightning quick, even at this time of the year.
8. Carlyon Bay, Cornwall
You’ll quite literally be blown away by the dramatic clifftop holes on the front nine. The layout then develops into a fine parkland track alongside the main Great Western railway line!
9. Thorpeness, Suffolk
It’s that man Braid again. This time he’s responsible for a magical heathland layout which boasts a superb array of holes and is always great fun to play.
10. North Shore, Lincs
You’ll be humming ‘I do like to be beside the seaside’ all the way round this track – another impressive links-parkland combo. The designer? You’ve guessed it, Mr Braid.
