*Musselburgh Old Links, East Lothian, Scotland – If you enjoy your golfing history, you’ll love ancient Musselburgh to bits. The place is simply steeped in it.
This is where golf first started: it’s officially recognised as the oldest golf course in the world – the game was played on Musselburgh Links as early as 1672 although Mary Queen of Scots reputedly played there in 1567.The magical, mystical nine hole links has also staged six Open Championships.

*Forest of Arden, Warwicks – This Donald Steel-designed Arden layout is a tough parkland nut to crack as many top players have discovered to their cost during the English Open and British Masters staged here in the past.
