Matt Briggs is ‘living the dream’ with Woodworm and Forgan of St Andrews

Golf clothing brand Woodworm and historic clubmakers Forgan of St Andrews, have announced a sponsorship deal with “living the dream” golfer Matt Briggs.

Briggs has just started his second year on the European Seniors Tour after giving up his job as an IT consultant to pursue his dream of becoming a professional golfer.

In 2007, at the age of 49, Briggs became the first amateur county player from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire (BB&O) to win a Tour card since Luke Donald.

Two years on, he has retained that card on the Seniors Tour and is continually rubbing shoulders with Sandy Lyle, Ian Woosnam and Sam Torrance, where he will now wear and play Woodworm and Forgan gear.

Announcing the sponsorship agreement, Simon Millington, CEO of the Sports Plc, owners of Woodworm and Forgan, said: “Every now and again in business you get the chance to do something really interesting and we’re delighted to be supporting Matt.

“This isn’t a rags to riches story, because Matt had carved out a very successful IT career before deciding to turn pro at the age of 49. But it’s a fantastic story all the same.

“Matt is living every golfer’s dream of making it on Tour and Woodworm and Forgan is with him every step of the way.”
